We support prohibiting the performance of unnecessary experimental medical
procedures upon children with the intent of delaying natural puberty, altering natural
puberty, or removing healthy body parts; as a treatment for gender dysphoria or gender
confusion, or to reinforce a child’s cognitive dissonance with respect to his or her
biological sex.
Unnecessary and wholly experimental medical procedures include but are not limited to: providing puberty blockers to healthy children who are entering puberty at an age-appropriate time, the use of cross-sex hormones for the purpose of impersonating the opposite sex, as well as elective cosmetic alteration or amputation of healthy body parts such as the skin, breasts, clitoris, labiae, testicles, or penis.
We support prohibiting these unwarranted interventions for the following reasons:

We know that girls as young as thirteen and boys as young as sixteen are having
healthy body parts amputated. Minors are not allowed to get tattoos or other
elective cosmetic procedures because we recognize that they are not capable of
making these life-altering decisions. Their healthy bodies should not be
mutilated to treat a mental health issue.
Unlike adults, children have not developed the cognitive, social, or experiential maturity
to provide informed consent for irreversible medical procedures that cause lifelong
damage to an otherwise healthy body.

No medical research findings have ever validated the use of irreversible, experimental
or off-label medical or pharmacological interventions upon children based solely upon
an ideology.
The vast majority of children with gender dysphoria gain healthy acceptance of their
biology if allowed to pass through puberty naturally, without medical intervention.

It is necessary for children’s long-term safety and wellbeing, and for the public good,
that we protect children who struggle with gender dysphoria from officially sanctioned
experimentation with dangerous drugs, hormones, and surgeries that induce superficial
cosmetic changes in their appearance while causing long-term, irreversible damage to
otherwise healthy bodies.
