Doctor Defends "Gender Affirming" Interventions

 I originally contacted Dr. Roberts to discuss his study that showed that even after a year on testosterone suppressive drugs and cross-sex hormones men still have an unfair advantage over women. The discussion expanded when Dr. Roberts made claims about the benefits of "gender affirming" medical interventions. Among other things I challenged his claim that puberty blockers are harmless, that children can consent to procedures, and that gender identity should be privileged above other identities. Though I deeply disagree with his medical approach, I do appreciate his willingness to engage in what, at times, was an intense debate. Ashira, shares her story of living mostly passing as a man while maintaining her religion as an Orthodox Jew. Ahsira provides important insights into gender confusion and the harms of transgender medical interventions. Ahsira grew up in Canada and was able to easily access cross-sex hormones and surgeries despite a history of trauma and being autistic. She now lives in Israel and regrets that she will never be able to have biological children due to the choices she made when she was younger and suffering from gender confusion.

Butch Lesbian-Erased

 Diagnosed with gender dysphoria in the 1990s, she had a double mastectomy and started on testosterone in her early twenties, now in her thirties, she realizes her transition was a result of internalized misogyny and homophobia. She is now speaking out in hopes of encouraging gender non-conforming children from accepting themselves rather than harming themselves by medically transitioning.
